OmpR Regulated RhlI

This part consists of the quorum synthase RhlI under control of an OmpR dependent promoter. RhlI produces N-butyryl-homoserine lactone (C4-HSL), a quorum sensing molecule which enables cell to cell signaling. The promoter is activated by phosphorylated OmpR protein.

Biology

RhlI is a quorum synthase from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Quorum sensing enables cell to cell communication and coordination of behaviors. RhlI is involved in biofilm formation, motility and virulence.

The OmpR dependent promoter comes from Escherichia coli. It is part
