inJanus from Grifola frondosa

Hydrophobins are a family of small, amphipathic secreted proteins that have unusual biophysical properties, such as self-assembling on various interfaces. Based on differences in hydropathy patterns and self-assembly's stability, they can be divided into two categories: class I and class II. A class I hydrophobin gene, hgf1, was identified from Grifola frondosa on the basis of its hydrophobin-like conserved pattern of Cys residues. Like most hydrophobins, HGF1 could self assemble at interfaces, lowering surface tension and changing surface properties. Sequence and Features
