MerB is considered a key enzyme for the bioremediation and detoxification of mercury compounds. This gene codes for organomercury lyase, which catalyzes the protonolysis of the mercury and carbon bond, releasing a a less movil and toxic mercury specie (Hg2+). Sequence and Features
