mamSTU, from Magnetospirillum magneticum

This part includes genes mamS, mamT, and mamU, which were extracted from the genome of Magnetospirillum magneticum strain AMB-1 by [http://2011.igem.org/Team:Washington UW iGEM Team 2011].

Usage and Biology

mamS, mamT, and mamU are AMB0975, AMB0976, and AMB0977 respectively. Specific functions of mamS and mamU were not found. mamT was reported to be related to magnetite crystal growth; participates in different steps during magnetite synthesis.
