pLacI+RBS
This BioBrick comprises a ligation of the registry parts for the promoter LacI+PL (BBa_R0011) and the RBS (BBa_B0034).
The LacI promoter is normally inhibited by the Lac inhibitor, preventing any downstream translation. When IPTG is added, it binds to the Lac inhibitor, preventing inhibition of the promoter, allowing downstream gene expression.
This promoter has been ligated to an RBS as an intermediate step of ligations. By adding a coding region followed by terminator after this part, one would create a glucose sensitive functional unit.
