Inducible ampicillin resistance cassette (regulated by RhlR + N-buturyl-HSL)
This device is a combination of BBa_K1073001 and No part name specified with partinfo tag. and mediates an inducible ampicillin resistance. It includes the inducible promoter of the rhl quorum sensing system of Pseudomonas aeruginosa followed by a RBS and the ampicillin resistance gene coding for beta-lactamase.
Usage and Biology
The promoter is activated in the presence of RhlR in combination with the autoinducer molecule N-buturyl-homoserine lactone produced by RhlI. The expression of the beta-lactamase can therefore be induced and tuned by supplying RhlR and N-buturyl-HSL.
Note that the promoter is leaking to a certain degree when not activated. For further information and experience on this device see BBa_K1073035.
