SAM synthetase enzyme catalyzes the reaction of synthesis of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (S-AdoMet, a.k.a. SAM). This reaction is part of the ethylene biosynthesis pathway I, which is present in plants [1].
S-AdoMet is an intermediate in the ethylene biosynthesis pathway I (plants), a methyl donor for many cellular molecules (Methylated Acceptors) and in the methyl salicylate (MeSA) biosynthesis pathway, and the precursor of the polyamine synthesis pathway (Spermidine/Spermine biosynthesis pathway) [3].
