Venus : reporter Yellow Fluorescent Protein

Protein Description

Description

Venus is a Yellow Fluorescent Protein that was developed to overcome limitations to the use of Green Fluorescent Protein produced by Aequorea victoria. Therefore, Venus can be used as a reporter system. Here, Venus was used as a transcriptional reporter, to control the transcriptional efficiency of the yeast promoter pGAP (BBa_K4081994). The excitation wavelength is 516nm and the emission wavelength is 530nm.

Construction

The Venus used was synthetized based on a sequence from a yeast toolkit so the sequence is optimized for expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In our genetic construction, the gene Venus was synthetized in fusion with the secretion signal alpha-factor (BBa_K5143009) in 5'. See the composite part here: BBa_K5143026
