Applications of BBa_K1073020
When aeBlue is expressed, the colonies on plates as well as the liquid culture become blue. The iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013 used this device to differentiate two different strains from one approach.

iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013 |
The chromoprotein aeBlue exhibits a distinct blue color when expressed. In order to avoid absoption of the chomoproteins during measurement with the photometer the absorption and emission spectra were measured. iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013: Absorption spectrum of chromoprotein aeBlue in a wavelength range of 400-800 nm. iGEM Team Braunschweig 2013:Emission spectrum of chromoprotein aeBlue. This chromoprotein does not show any significant emission in a wavelength range between 500-800 nm and therefore cannot be detected by its fluorescence. Absorption maximum for aeBlue: 595 nm Emission maximum for aeBlue: none (dark quencher)
