OmpC
OmpC is a porin gene, whose promoter is controlled by the transcription factor OmpR, part of the EnvZ/OmpR two component system. The EnvZ/OmpR two-component system in normal conditions controls the expression of the ompC and ompF porin genes, controlling iron homeostasis (1). This part is native to </i>Escherichia coli</i>, which means that it has directly been amplified from the organism that we are working on: </i>E. coli</i> Nissle 1917. Since this part was originally upstream the OmpC gene, it also contains its native rbs. E. coli OmpC without rbs is under the iGEM registry code BBa_K769001.
