RBS_tuf33 (Lactobacillus plantarum)

This ribosomal binding site (RBS) was originally taken from the Ptuf33 promoter sequence reported in the work of Tauer and collaborators (2014). It has been previously used for recombinant gene expression in Lactobacillus plantarum.

Usage and Biology

This RBS was derived from the pSIP409, a high-level inducible vector, and was used in the expression constructs designed by Sørvig and collaborators (2005). Furthermore, as changes in the length and/or sequence between a Shine-Dalgarno-sequence (SDS) and the start codon can affect expression, it has been found that the optimal spacer between the SDS and the start codon in L. plantarum consists of 8 nucleotides.
