Bacillus subtilis TAT signal peptide PhoD

Alkaline Phosphatase D is one of the many extracellularly secreted proteins found in Bacillus subtilis. It is preceded by a signal peptide sequence of 56 AA which targets the folded protein to the extracellular space via Twin Arginine Translocase Ay-Cy and Twin Arginine Translocase channels in B.subtilis. It has also been thought to use Sec secretory pathway in Bacillus subtilis for unfolded protein secretion. Although the efficiency of secretion is ultimately dependant on multiple factors including conformation of the protein, cellular environment, etc. this part might be used for secretion of different recombinant proteins in Bacillus subtilis.
