ZsGreen: Green fluorescent protein
ZsGreen is a basic (constitutively fluorescent) green fluorescent protein published in 1999, derived from Zoanthus sp. and has a molecular weight of 26.1 kDa. ZsGreen is encoding a synthetic green fluorescent protein, that has been modified for high solubility, bright emission, and rapid chromophore maturation. We use ZsGreen as a reporter gene wherein it is coupled to the inducible promoter pFIG1 that is activated when the transcription factor STE12 binds to the promoter to initiate the transcription of the reporter gene.
