VPEL222 - Optogenetic Transcription Factor
VPEL222 is a light-dependent transcription factor containing a nuclear localization sequence, VP-16 transcriptional activator, and EL-222 light-sensitive DNA-binding protein. This transcription factor can localize to the nucleus and binds to specific DNA sequences (c120 repeat sites) under blue light illumination. The VP-16 region promotes transcription of genes downstream from the c120 repeats once the transcription factor is bound.
