Applications of BBa_M36596

This part is designed to create hydrogenase enzymes that can produce hydrogen within organisms such as E. Coli and S. Elongatus and are not inactivated by the presence of oxygen. The success of this goal would allow a more efficient method of biohydrogen production on an industrial scale. In our experiments, this part was used in conjunction with a rhamnose sensor, as well as a kanamyacin selectable marker and origin of replication (high). It was transfected successfully into E. Coli and unsuccessfully into S. Elongatus.
