Applications of BBa_M36227

This part was created to enable cells to become more tolerant to cadmium. Such a part could be used in organisms that need to survive in a cadmium-rich environment to perform their function. For example, cells that sense the presence of cadmium in its environment still require the ability to survive in cadmium-rich environment. Alternatively, the part can be incorporated into cells whose primary function may be to actively remove cadmium from the environment, thereby protecting other organisms from its effects.

User Reviews

We were unable to determine the functionality of this part. The problem was that during our functional assays, we did not use a high enough amount of cadmium to determine if the part made a survivability. More testing needs to be performed to evaluate the part's effectiveness.
