CYP3A4 - Cytochrome P450 3A4 codon-optimized for Saccharomyces cerevisiae

CYP3A4 (Cytochrome P450 3A4) is one of the enzymes in the cytochrome P450 family responsible for the metabolism of a wide variety of xenobiotics, including drugs, environmental chemicals, and endogenous compounds (2) (4). CYP3A4 metabolizes approximately 50% of all clinically used drugs (1). CYP3A4 is predominantly found in the liver and the intestines, where it plays a role in phase I metabolism (2). CYP3A4 catalyzes the oxygenation of its substrates (2).

CYP3A4, as a part, was integrated into a detoxification module where it initiates the oxidative breakdown of toxic compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and environmental pollutants, allowing these substances to be further processed and excreted (4). This part was combined with POR forming this composite BBa_K5477038.
