S. aureus Targetting Peptide 1
This 7mer is a peptide sequence that has been identified through phage display to be capable of binding specifically to S. aureus. The sequence information has been published by Wang et al in 2021. In that study, the authors utilized phage display to identify 5 different peptide sequences to have strong binding affinity to the cell wall surface of S. aureus. The authors demonstrated that the expression of the peptide sequences on the tail protein of a modified M13 phage showed strong binding. Furthermore, they coated the phages with gold nanoparticles which not only allowed for the detection of S. aureus in liquid medium but also enabled the phage to become bactericidal toward S. aureus. In our study, we planned to fuse this peptide sequence between the DsbA secretion signal peptide (BBa_K5444000) and the ORF of Gp3 or Gp8.
