ECOLIN_RS18700 tagR

ECOLIN_RS18700 tagR is a sequence responsible for transcribing and translating a repressor protein, which functions as a regulatory protein that inhibits the production of specific characteristic proteins by particular genes. This repressor can recognize specific regulatory genes (i.e., the operon serves as the binding site for the repressor protein). When the regulatory sequence binds to the repressor, it obstructs the binding of RNA polymerase to the promoter sequence or prevents RNA polymerase from advancing along the DNA. This process inhibits transcription and mediates negative regulation, thereby reducing the mRNA synthesis of the gene group associated with this regulatory gene, namely the operon. Consequently, this results in a diminished expression of fluorescent proteins and a decrease in fluorescence intensity.
