5' ITR
The adeno-associated virus (AAV) 5' inverted terminal repeat (ITR) is a key regulatory sequence that is the functional equivalent to the wild-type AAV2 genome's 5' ITR. It plays a crucial role in enabling the rescue of the viral genome from recombinant plasmids and facilitating the replication of the viral genome during AAV production.
In gene therapy and vector design, the 5' ITR is essential for maintaining the functionality of AAV-based vectors. It acts as a signal for replication and packaging, ensuring that the viral genome is properly processed and packaged into AAV capsids.
