Part:BBa_K5257022
DogTag-MerA_2D
The MerA_2D (BBa_K5257007) enzyme is expected to localize on the cell surface to volatilize inorganic mercury (Hg2+) and prevent it from entering the cell, the enzyme requires the cofactor NADPH which can be provided externally or through the enzyme gdh-DogTag (BBa_K5257020).
This part includes a degradation system controlled by the TEV enzyme (BBa_K5257001).
The iGEM Bolivia team will use it for a novel organic mercury biosensor. However, this part can also be used in bioremediation.
Modular system inspired by Gallus et al. (2020).
