CTR tag

CTR tag is the native Chymotrypsinogen signal sequence.

Native Chymotrypsinogen signal sequence. The tag causes extracellular secretion when added to N-terminus of the protein cargo. CTR encodes for a preproprotein that is synthesized in the pancreas acing cells and secreted into the human small intestine for further proteolytic activation. When added to the N-terminus, the CTR signal peptide tag causes the secretion of protein cargo. Recent research testing the effects of different signal peptide had shown that the CTR tag is the most appropriate for increasing lysosomal enzyme secretion.

For our project's Solubility Study, we aim to investigate the secretion efficiency of the CTR tag in comparison with various other signal peptide tags when attached to different cargo proteins, including sfGFP, alkaline phosphatase, nanoluciferase, and beta-galactosidase. The goal is to identify signal peptides for most efficient secretion of soluble antigens to improve the ATLAS system.
