DNA Aptamer against 231pTau
Several statistics from analysis of AD and normal brain suggest that there exist a few phosphorylation site biomarkers in case of Tauopathies, however they cannot be solely trusted for diagnosis of the disease from quantities present in blood. Therapeutically, aptamers show the potential of structural specificity better than antibodies although the binding affinity maybe several orders less.
231 Threonine site in hTau 441 has been closely associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Thus, this aptamer selected for 231pTau can be simply used to study direct application in AD models, conjugated with fluorophores, developed into PROTACs or LYTACs etc as a use in projects.
Usage and Biology
5'CAGCACCGTCAACTGAAT3' and 5'GTGATGCGATGGAGATGT3' are constant regions in the two ends of the sequence. The binding region is in the middle, which has high frequency of G.
