darA
DarA is a gene in the biosynthetic gene cluster that produces darobactin A. It is part of the darABCDE operon. DarA encodes for a propeptide, the precursor peptide modified by other products of the dar gene cluster. DarA is transcribed with the darB, darC, darD, and darE genes to produce darobactin A. This gene was sequenced and characterized by researchers at the Lewis Lab of Northeastern University (Imai et. al).
