PcotYZ
This part contains the regulatory sequence of PcotYZ, which is a promoter of Bacillus subtilis. PcotYZ is a sporulation-dependent promoter out of the cotYZ gene cluster of B. subtilis, which allows for gene expression only during sporulation. Information regarding the cotYZ operon can be found in the following databases: SubtiWiki, DBTBS.
In previous studies, this promoter has so far provided the highest activity for spore surface display (Bartels et al. 2018, unpublished data of Elif Öztel).
PcotYZ only served for design purposes of the TU Dresden iGEM 2024 Team and was required for the construction of composite parts (see Contribution page).
Biosafety level: S1
Target organism: Bacillus subtilis
Main purpose of use: Sporulation-dependent gene expression in the host B. subtilis
Potential application: Spore surface display
