TDP+AnAFP
Introduction
This composite part consists of Tardigrade Desiccation Protein (TDP) and Ammopiptanthus nanus Antifreeze Protein (AnAFP). They were respectively tested by iGEM17_TUDelft in BBa_K2306003 and BBa_K4765015.
Usage and Biology
TDP, derived from tardigrades, is known for its ability to protect cellular structures during desiccation by forming a glass-like matrix, enabling survival in extreme dehydration. AnAFP, sourced from Ammopiptanthus nanus, is an antifreeze protein that stabilizes cell membranes under cold stress by interacting with the membrane and calcium ions, preventing macromolecule aggregation. Together, these proteins enhance cellular resilience against both dehydration and freezing conditions.
