Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES)
Description: Internal ribosome entry site (IRES) is derived from alphaviruses [Kamrud, 2007]. It enables 5’-cap independent translation of downstream genes [Kamrud, 2007].
Usage and Biology
This part is useful in creation of bicistronic or polycistronic protein expression systems, when cloned upstream of genes.
