PKS1
The PKS1 gene from Aureobasidium pullulans EXF-150 encodes a highly reduced polyketide synthase (HR-PKS) that plays a vital role in synthesising the fatty acid tail of liamocin. This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis 3,5-dihydroxydecanoic acid chain (fatty acid part) of Liamocin (Xue et al., 2020). The product of the PKS1 gene is the main building block of the lipid moiety of liamocin. This polyketide synthase is a multidomain enzyme that coordinates a series of reactions that are critical to producing the unique dihydroxy fatty acid chains characteristic of the liamocin molecule.
