The murA gene encodes an enzyme essential for the synthesis of diaminopimelic acid (DAP).

To ensure the double safeguard of bacteria being able to undergo lysis after entering tumor cells, the murA gene controlled by the Arabidose promoter is inserted into the recombinant plasmid. This ensures the delayed lysis characteristic of attenuated Salmonella X11802.
