CsgA fused with polystyrene specific peptide sequence by a linker
This composite part is composed of the CsgA fused with a peptide capable of binding polypropylene.
To increase the curli fiber capacity to capture microplastic, we planned to fuse these peptide sequences to the CsgA gene via a short flexible linker.
The peptides are short enough that they do not disturb the proper folding of the curli fibers. The idea of this design is that the peptide stretches out of the beta-sheet structure of the curli fibers and has the possibility to interact with the external environment.
