Pikm2-TS

A kind of plant NLR helper protein that can dimerize with Pikm-1 to assist in its immune activation function.

Usage and Biology

Overview of Pi-km

Pi-km is a major resistance allele on the rice blast resistance site : Pik, consisting of two closely linked NB-LRR genes with independent functions (Pikm1-TS and Pikm2-TS). Pi-km mediated rice blast resistance requires the joint action of Pikm1-TS and Pikm2-TS. When only one of Pikm1-TS or Pikm2-TS is present, rice exhibits susceptibility.

Introduction to Pikm-2

Pikm-2 is a helper protein that can dimerize with the activated form of Pikm-1 and activate downstream immune signaling pathways through conformational changes. For the plant ETI immune pathway, Pikm-2 is also essential for conferring resistance.
