Afu8g00370 generates the polyketide synthase of fumagillin’s biosynthesis pathway, Fma-PKS. Fma-PKS is partially responsible for the production of the second branch of fumagillin, the dodecapentaenoyl group that attaches itself onto the compound fumagillol in order to produce the final fumagillin. The enzyme produces the dodecapentaenoyl group and keeps it attached until Fma-AT catalyzes the group’s transfer onto fumagillol. It is the second last sector of our project (Guruceaga et. al 2020).
