Design Notes
In order to protect our system from high toxin concentrations it is designed to constitutively produce an antitoxin (MazE) to neutralize the toxin (MazF) during the initial stage of AdoCbl production. Once produced, AdoCbl inhibits the toxin expression through binding to the negatively regulating riboswitch, leading to cell survival. In the absence of sufficient AdoCbl production, toxin levels rise due to an inactive riboswitch structure, inducing cell death.
