Design Notes

Team Sheffield 2022 expressed gutD in Vibrio natriegens (Vmax Express, Synthetic Genomics Inc.) in an IPTG-inducible pET-21a backbone, to investigate whether gutD overexpression would allow V. natriegens to grow on sorbitol. Although we confirmed that V. natriegens cannot utilise sorbitol as a sole carbon source by itself when plated on M9 minimal media + 0.2% sorbitol + 4% NaCl (w/v), overexpression of gutD alone did not lead to any conclusive results.
