vioA
vioA coding region from Chromobacterium violaceum and codon optimized for Saccharomyces cerevisiae. vioA is a gene in the biosynthesis pathway of violacein, a purple (bis-indole) pigment that also has antibiotic properties. The violacein pathway consists of the vioABCDE genes. This part is the first step in the violacein biosynthesis pathway, converting L-tryptophan into the intermediate 2-Imino-3-(indol-3-yl)propanoate.
