EhElo9
EhElo9 encodes ∆-9 elongase from Emiliania huxleyi which functions in the Δ-9 elongase/desaturase pathway and could convert C18:2 to C20:2.
Characterization
Heterologous expression of EhElo9 could enable engineered Y. lipolytica to produce C20:2 fatty acids that couldn’t be produced in wild-type Y. lipolytica.
Literature
We submitted the coding sequence of Δ9-elongase from I. galbana to the BLASTX and got to know the Δ9-elongase from E. huxleyi share the same homologous sequence. Then we acquired the complete sequence of this protein by E. huxleyi CCMP1516 filter protein models, after which the DNA segment was codon optimized and expressed in plant species.
