Part:BBa_K4165158
P-NH
A synthetic peptide that is used for targeting misfolded tau protein (BBa_K4165009) as it binds to PHF6 of tau fibrils.
Usage and Biology
P-NH peptide (NITMNSRRRRNH) is tested against PHF seed of tau (306VQIVYK311) which is found in different models of tau aggregates suggesting that it has a role in the aggregation leading to Alzheimer's disease. Findings showed that P-NH can bind to PHF via van der Waal force and hydrogen bonds, it could inhibit tau hyperphosphorylation and aggregation when tested in vitro on N2a cells. In vivo, it could enhance AD mice cognitive ability.
