BbvCI-R1
BbvC R1 is one of two heterogeneous subunits of the R.BbvCI enzyme.
Description
BbvCI-R1 is one of two heterogeneous subunits of the R.BbvCI enzyme. The recognition sequence of the non-palindrome restriction endonuclease BbvCI from Bacillus brevis is CC^TCAGC/GC^TGAGG (^ indicating cleavage site). Its R1 subunit cleaves the bottom strand GC^TGAGG. This subunit contains a catalytic site for DNA hydrolysis and works independently with strand specificity. The Nb.BbvCI is a restriction enzyme that cleaves duplex DNA within a seven base pair asymmetric recognition sequence, and this activity depends on the combinatorial usage of the two subunits.[1]References
