ATKA expression tag
To increase translation initiation rates for protein expression.
Usage and Biology
We learned that the first several codons are critical for efficient protein translation[1], and the AKTK expression tag, immediately following the start codon, has been shown to increase translation initiation rates[2].Inspired by the literature, we put AKTK expression tag after the start codon to improve the production of our protein.
Experiment and Results
Due to time reasons, we did not do the characterization experiment of AKTK increased protein expression. But we did use this basic part to produce protein with high yield. So you can see experiments and results of our Mfp5 protein production on part:BBa_K3755011 and part:BBa_K3755012.
