The nitrate sensitive promoter was firstly used by BCCS-Bristol team in iGEM 2010. After that, other teams have studied and characterized this part. It is the promoter of the Escherichia coli yeaR/yoaG operon, described by Lin et al., 2007. We placed the amilCP blue protein behind the PyeaR promoter. This chromoprotein was design by the Uppsala-Sweden team in iGEM 2011, exhibiting strong color when expressed.
