CARP2 regulated
This part is contain coral acid-rich protein2(CARP2, Part:BBa_K2510001) and regulated with T7 promoter, induced lac operator, RBS B0034 and T7 terminator. CARP2 is derived from expression of genes obtained from the common stony coral, Stylophora pistillata and was identified to be responsible for calcium carbonate precipitation. CARP2 contain a secretory signal peptide, suggesting that they are discharged from the cells. CARPs 2 contain an isoleucineproline-valine(IPV)-like motif following the signal peptide that has previously been suggested to assist in the trafficking of secreted, acidic, calcium-binding proteins out of the rough endoplasmic reticulum in metazoans. The putative mechanism of calcium carbonate nucleation is that the highly acidic pocket of CARPs localize the substrate, buffer and catalyze the reaction between calcium ion and carboxylate.
