Characterization

Characterization using formaldehyde-LB media This biobrick was tested within our own experiments as the enzyme of origin was one of the main focuses of our project. We used this protein to observe the survival rate of FDH expressing E.coli in culture conditions that contained formaldehyde. This enzyme did react as expected and showed a higher survival rate at all concentrations of formaldehyde than the FDH negative bacteria. Results This chart in Figure. 1 quantifies the results that we found in our study. The numbers show a rate of higher survival rate in bacteria that are expression FDH, thus proving that FDH can be manipulated and expressed properly under the lab settings that we created.
