Part:BBa_K2201050
Cleavage of Carotenoids
The insert of this part belongs to the class of Caretonoid cleavage dioxygenases (CCDs). These CCDS play an important role in plants producing smellable substances. They are responsible for the oxidative cleavage of carotenoid substrates within the caretonoid metabolism. As we did an transcriptome assembly on L. Croton tiglium, we also checked it for possible CCDs. When blasting our transcriptome assembly sequences, we could estimate a sequence that is 98% identical with CCDs out of other organisms. We evaluated the sequence, designed primers for it and extracted it out of L. Croton tiglium. Furtheron, we cloned it into the PhytoBrick-plasmid BBa_P10500.
Possible Usages
This part could be used in coorperation with any caretinoid-producing part to generate an olfactorical verification system.
