PCP fused to Mxi1 domain
RNA binding protein PCP fused to the transcriptional repression domain Mxi1.
Usage and Biology
MAX-interacting protein 1 (Mxi1), is a transcriptional repressor of the c-Myc promoter. Initially found in mammalian cells, it is also active in yeast cells. PCP is a RNA binding protein that can be recruited by a small RNA sequence, PP7. The fusion between these two proteins gives the possibility to Mxi1 to be recruited where the PP7 sequence is. For example, when producing PCP-Mxi1 along with BBa_K1941003, a scaffold RNA (SCRNA) with the PP7 sequence fused to it, the repressor is recruited to the scRNA and can repress CYC1 promoter.
