Applications of BBa_K1498000

Under the control of the constitutive promoter BBa_J23110 and following expression in E. coli BL21 the supernatant was analysed on a SDS-PAGE gel. Following coomassie staining a protein of around 36 kDa was visibly overexpressed -this size is smaller than the unprocessed keratinase, but larger than the fully processed protein suggesting that a pre-processed version of the protein was present. However only the processed form of the protein will exhibit activity.

Lane 1: EZ run protein ladder (Orange marker 72kDa, then 55, 40 and 33 kDa).
Lane 3: Secreted keratinase
