Ketosynthase The ketosynthase (KS) domain is derived from the lovB gene of Aspergillus terreus, , it is the first domain of the naturally occurring iterative polyketide synthase, and it is codon optimized for Aspergillus niger.LovB, a polyketide synthase, is involved in the production of the first intermediate in the lovastatin pathway, dihydromonacolin L. The KS domain elongates the chain length of the substrate by decarboxylative claisen condensation (carbon-carbon bond formation).
