Design Notes

This is a preliminary part which will be used as a standard into which trans activating elements will be inserted to replace the spacer. The pBAD promoter is repressed by the araC gene product which is also located in this construct. Upon addition of arabinose, the transcription of genes under the control of the pBAD promoter can be activated.
