ScyA (acetolactate synthase) generator

Our research has focused onnovel biosynthetic pathways for UV-protectant compounds found in two distinct algal species. One leading to the production of the unrelated UV-screening compound scytonemin was cloned from Nostoc punctiforme. ScyA (NpR1276), an acetolactate synthetase, carries out the second step in the pathway by converting 3-indole pyruvic acid to a ketoacid intermediate.

This part includes a modified constitutive lac promoter (lacP'), and RBS and the open reading frame of scyA. This part can be used to express ScyA protein in E. coli.
