This part contains coding sequence of ''Escherichia coli'' K12 (substr. MG1655) arsenical resistance operon repressor (''arsR'', Gene ID: 948013, Uniprot: P37309) codon-optimized for ''Escherichia coli'' Nissle 1917. The ''arsR'' gene which encodes for regulatory proteins, is a part of the ''ars'' operon of the ''E. coli'' conjugal plasmid R773 [1]. ''arsR'' is a 117 residue protein, that has been shown to be a trans‐acting repressor and is a sensor of environmental As(III). This 13 kDa protein belongs to the ''arsR'' family of metalloregulatory proteins that respond to a variety of metals including As(III), Sb(III), Cd(II), and Zn(II) [2].
