EGFP_Q158X

This part is a mutant of a gene encoding EGFP, and it is nonsense mutated at its 158th amino acid residue. We used this mutated EGFP as one of the targets of our directed evolution process. After expression in BL21(DE3), we measured its fluorescence intensity together with wild type EGFP to show its inability of fluorescing.

Figure 1. The relative fluorescence intensity of EGFP and its nonsense mutants EGFP represents the relative fluorescence intensity of BL21(DE3) transformed with plasmid encoding EGFP protein. EGFP_Q158X and EGFP_K159X represents the nonsense mutants of wild-type EGFP. According to the relative fluorescence intensity, we can see that EGFP nonsense mutants lose the ability of fluorescing.
